Covid-19 Update

11 May 2020

Dear Friends,

It breaks our heart to do so, but there is no other choice... InfinityCon will not take place this June. Although we would love to be able to provide a definitive postponement date, our event requires months of lead time for planning and fundraising, and of course involves international travel and close human interaction, so there is still too much uncertainty to reliably identify a date. We therefore must postpone InfinityCon indefinitely. We’re tentatively considering the same event for next summer, but there are too many unknowns to confirm at this time.

Ticket holders will be able to choose whether to request a refund or apply tickets to our future event. All ticket holders will be contacted via email to make their selection.

We will continually assess possible postponement dates until a decision can be made, and will keep you informed of any updates along the way.

Thank you so much for your support. We miss you all and we look forward to when we can see you next...

The RT

Dear Friends,

Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with you. We would prefer to be able to give you a definitive answer right now with regard to the fate of InfinityCon, but there is too much uncertainty at this time. We believe the answer will become plainly clear over the next month, and we promise to update you as soon as any important decisions are made. Our final decision will be made and announced by mid-May, at the latest. For now, here is what we do know:

  • InfinityCon is a gathering of at least 500 people, dependent upon international travel. If it cannot be held safely on the planned dates, it will not be. We will follow the recommendations of world public health experts.

  • InfinityCon is also dependent upon ticket sales revenue to cover venue, supply, and talent costs. That is, we need to sell many more tickets/extras if the event is to be viable from a financial perspective. Under normal circumstances, we would presently be heavily promoting ticket sales, conducting other fundraisers, and announcing final guests. However, promoting sales does not feel appropriate to us now, given that so many people are struggling with employment and financial challenges at this time. That said, you may still purchase tickets/extras on our site.

  • If InfinityCon cannot be held as planned, our goal will be to postpone and identify new dates. In that case, any tickets already purchased will be honored for the new dates. In the case that you are unable to make the new dates or InfinityCon must be canceled entirely, you will receive a refund.

Our global fandom family knows that social distance doesn’t have to mean disconnection. We’re lucky in that we’ve already learned how to relate to each other across many kinds of barriers. Although we aren’t physically together, we can lean on those digital communication skills to comfort and support each other now more than ever. We invite you to share memories from HOS and HOS2 with us and each other. Tag us so we can reshare! You can also count on our full support and availability to answer any questions you may have.

We can’t wait for the day when we can see you all. For now, we are thinking of you and sending virtual hugs. Take care of yourselves and one another.
